And So I Am
Graphic and Motion Design
Brand Identity
Brief
To develop a visual identity for an upcoming independent short film, called And So I Am, set between London and South Africa, due for release in 2026. The film is an emotionally driven genre, exploring masculinity, cultural expectations, youth identity, and coming-of-age.
The brief called for an identity and visual system for posters, crowdfunding materials, and social media outputs. This included the creation of a title treatment that functions across both motion and static formats. The system had to capture a tone of intimacy, tension, and self-reflection, balancing softness with underlying discomfort and vulnerability.
3D Model Making
Solution
A bold, confident static title logo that transforms into fluid, water-like motion across digital assets.
The motion reflects a key scene set beside a stream, where the protagonist connects emotionally with his father, using water as a metaphor for self-reflection and shifting identity. The type ripples and distorts, moving between control and vulnerability. The water movement was developed with the director, matching the exact movement he envisioned for the scene.
To support the film’s setting, a handmade 1:50 scale model of the South African bush was created, inspired by Wes Anderson’s stop-motion style to incorporate a youthful element. This considered the budget to allow for early, location-based visuals to be released before filming, while reinforcing the film’s analogue, vulnerable feel.
The result is an identity system that balances strength and softness across both static and motion outputs.
