The cave kit

The Cave Kit is a DIY toolkit for turning an ordinary household fridge into a functioning cheese cave. Designed to make the care and maturation of cheese accessible to home enthusiasts, the kit includes a humidifier, temperature and humidity controllers, and guidance for creating the ideal microclimate for affinage. The kit packaging reuses spanish Monte Enebro cheese boxes.

Rooted in my passion for cheese maturation and systems of care, the project explores how traditionally specialist processes can be demystified and brought into everyday life. By combining low-cost tools and open-source instructions, The Cave Kit invites users to engage with microbial life, slow food, and maintenance rituals, transforming the fridge into a site of transformation and attention.
